The Cakes

We ordered our cakes yesterday. It was such a positive experience. Pretty much the only wedding planning appointment that wasn't a beating... Sharron took great care of us. We knew exactly what we wanted, she sketched it out, we placed the order and done : )

The wedding cake was inspired by Maren's (my sister/our flower girl) dress. Three tiers, white chocolate cake with raspberry filling and butter cream icing.
The groom's cake is an xbox 360. Carrot cake with cream cheese icing.

Here is the updated checklist. It feels like we're pretty much done. Amanda and I are figuring out invitations next week. Then I need to figure out what I'm going to do about flowers...

The Bridal Shower

First of all I want to thank my Grama, Shirlee, Amanda and all the bridesmaids for putting together a wonderful shower. And of course I want to thank everyone who attended for all the gifts!! We are so happy : )

Here are some pictures from the shower:

We are having another shower this weekend in St. Louis. I'm super excited!

The Dress

I order my dress the first weekend in October and I won't get it January or February. I'm so glad to be able to check that off the list. I feel like all wedding planning is downhill from here.

I tried on about 25 dress at 5 or 6 different places. I ended up ordering from Bridal Boutique in Lewisville. The sales lady was so amazing and they discounted the dress to match another place I looked : )

Next weekend is the Bridal Shower and the following weekend we're going bridesmaids dress shopping, then we have a meeting with the caterer. It's all coming together.

The Checklist

oh the checklist... Beth gave me this idea and I really like it. The checklist is hanging on the wall in our office. I think it's interesting to track how ideas change and how much progress we've made.

Next on the list... Dress shopping, which I'm doing in early October. Rehearsal Dinner, the Denmans are working on this, it's either done or very close to being done. Caterer, just starting talking to a few and we a meeting with one on Monday. Then photographer and cake.

The Registry

We are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target and Macy's.

The Hotel and The DJ

I've been so busy! Not only am I starting a new job and finishing up at my old job, I've been able to cross a few more items off the "I DO" to do list.

We have booked the block of rooms at the hotel. We are using the Radisson . This hotel is close to the rehearsal dinner and the wedding venue. Also the Radisson is offering a great shuttle service both nights so everyone can have a great time and not worry about driving. It is $79 per night for either a double room or a king. You will need the promotion code to get this rate.

We have also book our DJ for the reception. Check Aaron out at uptownsound.com. We are exctied to be working with him and looking forward to it!

Save the Dates are coming soon! Hopefully they'll be in my mailbox when I get home today, so excited!

The Bridesmaids

I feel blessed to have such wonderful loving bridesmaids. Bridesmaids dress shopping was a success, even though I kept changing my mind. We decided on short pewter dresses in several different cuts. I think they're perfect : )

My sister, Amanda has been the most helpful maid of honor ever. I feel like she is carrying all the stress of this wedding and I do not have to worry about a thing.

Jennifer is the best! The decorations at the bridal shower were perfect. Jennifer and I (megifer lol) were BFFs in high school. And even though she moved to college station and I moved to Plano we alway made the trip to see each other. I'm so grateful for our friendship.

Brandi has always been there for me. She is a great friend and I know she always will be.

Brittany, Lindsay and I have been friends since the 4th grade. (15 years!?) Amanda joined our group in middle school. She did all that nerdy student council stuff with us.

Evanne became my sister when I was 17 and Maren was born a few years later. I can't image a family with out so many wonderful siblings.

The Venue

www.thefilterbuilding.com

Here are some pictures of the venue. There are more on the website of it actually set up for events. I looked at about a million places in and around Dallas. I loved this one, it had the "urban-chic" feeling I wanted, but more refined. It's on the White Rock Lake, we'll have the ceremony outside. The inside is set up to be an art gallery as well.

The Proposal

Here are the pictures from when Matt proposed. My sister, Amanda and I were coming home from Albuquerque for Christmas with our grandparents. We tried unsuccessfully to get on an earlier flight. So we waited at ABQ. I texted Matt the plan, he was supposed to pick us up from Love Field. During the trip we did a lot of traveling, trains, cars, etc. I do not travel well and discovered 1/2 tablet of Dramamine was the prefect amount to allow me to stay awake and not get motion sick, although it did make me kind of sleepy and out of it. So we fly home, no problem. We get to Love Field. I text Matt to let him know we have landed, no response, strange... Start walking to baggage claim, come down the escalator. As we come down I can see Matt waiting across the walkway from the ground up. (I know its him cause I bought him those shoes). Then I can see his jeans, his belt and that his shirt is tucked in. At that point I knew something was up. We get off the escalator and walk towards him. He's holding a dozen white roses and a homemade sign that says "Megan, how about forever?" I asked Amanda if she knew about this, she didn't. I'm surprised and in shock, and pretty groggy from the Dramamine. A crowded has gathered, waiting for me, to see him propose. He gets down on one knee and says something to the effect of "I love you, will you spend the rest of your life with me", and I remember saying "of course" and grabbing the ring out of the box and putting it on my finger. It fits perfectly. People start clapping and congratulate us as head over to get our bags. Adam (Matt's best man) was there taking the pictures.

The Blog

Hello! I'm starting a new blog for the wedding. If you don't already know you can check me out at mileaminutemegan.blogspot.com

I decided to opt for a blog instead of a site on The Knot, which I already have and hate. The blog allows a little more creative freedom and I think its easier for the computer challenged to navigate. Hope you like it : )

Hopefully Matthew will post occasionally or it really wont be different then my blog.
